Just a quick update from the night. Baby GL is doing great. He will remain intubated today in order to continue morphine. The morphine will relax his breathing too much to extubate. He will begin a continuous feeding today. Every hour he'll receive 5 ccs of plain, non-fortified breast milk. It will be on a timer so the 5 ccs will just be continuously pumped slowly through the g-tube into his stomach.
He didn't need a blood transfusion from surgery so that was great news. He is very pale in color, though. The nurse has him listening to his music and nature sounds, which he loves. It sounds like he's very comfortable and healing well.
