I finally was able to speak to the Neonatologist. Her thoughts are a little different from the NP that first treated Baby GL.  He still doesn't have a fever and isn't showing signs of an infection.  His oxygen levels are the best they've been in a while as well as having the best blood gas results (levels of oxygen and CO2).
At this point he will continue to be on the ventilator to let him rest. He's breathing over the ventilator which is a good sign.  No milk feedings for the day, just an IV.  Hopefully after a day or two the tube will come out again.

My suspicion is looking to be closer to correct now which makes me very angry at myself for allowing his immunizations.  The doctor has only seen one other preemie have this kind of reaction to immunizations but she has seen it.  It seems to be more likely the reasons for his apneas because he doesn't have signs of infections in the other tests they've taken.  The antibiotics will continue until they are sure it's not viral.  It's only time that will tell us more.

The other issue we are still dealing with is his vocal cords.  As the NP intubated she didn't see any movement.  That could actually be the reason the x-rays are showing something in his lungs. With the vocal cords not functioning as they should he's more prone to choke on the milk which would cause the fluid in the lungs.  As soon as the tube comes back out he will be seen by the ENT and hopefully we'll get more answers.
