Tomorrow is the big day.  Surgery!  Around 1pm Monday afternoon Baby GL will finally get that terrible hernia taken care of.  At the same time he will have a g-tube put directly to his stomach so the one in his nose can be removed.  His feedings will continue through the tube with daily bottle feeds as well as nursing time.

Baby GL is still not quite 3 kilos.  He has been on a cycle of gaining an losing weight leaving him at 2880 grams which is 6 lbs 6oz.  He's 44 cms, about 17 1/4 inches.  Every 3 hours he gets 50ccs of milk, which is a little over 1 1/2 oz.

There are many risks involved with surgery, but the one thing we worry about is him coming off the ventilator.  For surgery he has to be intubated.  Just before he gets the tube put in the ENT doctor will take another look at his throat and vocal cords.  We hope that as Baby GL grows all the issues with feeding will resolve on their own.
