Baby GL is doing great. He's had a pretty good week. The CPAP seems to have made him happy, but he needs the occasional pain killer/sedative to calm him. We are hoping that will stop soon.
His weight is back to normal, in my opinion, 5lbs 2oz. Now off the ventilator Baby GL uses his energy breathing and eating. That includes the occasional pacifier.
Today Baby GL is giving the high flow cannula a try. As long as his blood gases, which measure CO2, stay within good boundaries then he'll stay on it. He also got to start wearing clothes again. I think we have our boy back. Dressed and acting like a big boy.
Things are moving day by day now. As long as Baby GL cooperates we can get his swallow study done. After that we can hopefully determine where to move with his feedings. We are hoping to begin bottle feeds again so we can avoid having a feeding tube surgucally put in.
Surgery is still put off until we get closer to 3 kilos. Maybe towards mid July.
