Baptized - Saturday, March 20, 2010

Yesterday was a big day for Baby GL.  He officially turned 2 weeks old. Something we really wanted to have done a week ago was to have Baby GL baptized.  We were told we could do it while he was in the hospital.  During our terrible day last Saturday we were able to have the Chaplain bless him but because of everything going on we couldn't baptize him.  So yesterday we finally did get to have him baptized. It was really lovely even under the circumstances of being in the hospital, but it gives us comfort to know he's been baptized. The hospital has such wonderful Chaplains and the two we've met have both been incredible.  Baby GL slept through his baptism, or so we think.  He never opened his eyes, but he always enjoys having his head rubbed so I'm sure he thought nothing different from everyday touching.

Our other big event was finally getting to kangaroo.  Every seven days Baby GL's condo needs to get changed and cleaned because of the humidity levels he lives in.  The nurses agreed to give us a chance to kangaroo since we were moving him.  We had to see how he would react to be kangaroo'd.  He actually did really well.  I got to hold him for about an hour.  It was wonderful!  It's difficult to go two weeks without really holding your child.  When you kangaroo you get to feel his skin on yours and feel his warmth and movements.  Baby GL was really calm during our session. The only thing I felt was his facial movements on my chest. Which he moves throughout his face a lot.

My husband saw him yawn yesterday which was exciting for him. It's really cute and you have to watch very carefully because it's hard to see through his breathing tube in his mouth.

After all that we also weighed Baby GL in the big boy scale out of his condo.  He is now up to 508 grams which is 1 lb 2oz.  I always take the word of the nurses because I don't know my conversions.  He is growing and you can see it when you visit him. In fact he grew out of his first baby hat. He has graduated to the next size.  He hasn't had the gauze loincloth either.  With all his moving about I think it was best to just keep him in his normal diaper.  I'm hoping our next accomplishment will be to give him milk again.
